I have pollen allergy, but it's not really Pollen's fault. Pollen was here before I was. Allergy is just us humans having adaptation problems.

Allergic symptoms are not a simple thing. It's not only a failure of the organism to adapt. I've read somewhere that the same genes which give way to this weakness also protect against some other disease. It's more like choosing one bad thing over the other.

It's tough. But, mutant's never get discouraged, so I'm upping the stakes again. There's nothing much to do to target allergy directly except drugs. So I'm gonna have to boost my whole immune function by making a stronger effort at yogic living.

Impermanence II

To see the world
in an ever-recurring motion,
Witness one's self entirely inseparable
from the unceasing stream of elements
Love a thing and let it go,

time standing still eternally

No more bad coffee

Ladies and gentlemen. Most people wouldn't like to identify themselves with snails or look up to them, because they are so slow. Many admire panthers and leopards, because they're fast and agile. It can take 20 minutes or more for a snail to crawl only a few meters. Snails are often depicted smoking pipes, because in the world of tobacco it is the pipe which represents calmness.

Have you seen chinese doing their morning tai chi in a park? They move slow, because that's the way of the spirit. When you move slow, you're better able to put your mind into it. Where you put your attention, there you put your energy. And where you put your energy, that's where your spirit begins to collect.

When you put your mind into how you move or don't move, your spirit begins to manifest in your own body. That's the best place to summon your spirit, but you don't get that automatically. Mostly our spirits sleep so good that you can almost hear them snore.

You can move quickly and eat the cake too, but if you're anxious and have lost your spirit, it's a little bit like running with your pants down. You'll just stumble and look silly.

Snails don't have pants, but if they did, they'd have their clothes buttoned up perfectly like James Bond.

The Forgotten Totem

As I said in "Snail Might", snails can crawl over razor blades. It's a real llife example of what can be achieved by never deviating from a path. Were the snail to change it's direction even a little bit, it would be cut by the blade.

There's a great movie called Apocalypse Now which you might have seen already, which is particularly famous for using the snail metaphor, but this razor blade stuff has even wider significance than what you can see there. You don't have to be a movie geek or a lunatic military person to benefit from this model in your everyday life.

Learning to "do like a snail" is very useful when you get into tight situations. Sometimes you have both good and bad choices, but the worst choice still could be hesitation in choosing.

Some people like to identify themselves with a totem animal. I think it's cool. If you do it from your heart, you can get some of the powers of that animal for yourself. It sounds like fiction, but actually it just takes a leap of faith and some practise.

Mostly people choose totem animals like the tiger, wolf or bear. Some have sinister or nocturnal birds like the crow, owl or vulture. There's nothing wrong with choosing any of those, but I do have the feeling that many good totem animals get neglected undeservingly, because at first glance they don't look so menacing.

I think the snail belongs to that category.

Snail Might

The snail is a powerful creature. Not many animals have such might, not even the awesome tiger. Snails are generally not mutants, but they are very tough. Anyone who has fought against snails in the garden know exactly how tough. It's not only their powerful and graceful body structure, but also their mind. There is nothing in comparison to the mind of a snail, except maybe the mind of a buddha, which is equal to the mind of a snail. Think about the way snails work their way past obstacles. No matter how big or small an obstacle, snails always go straight. They never deviate from their path to go around an obstacle.

In the graph on the right, the path A is easy and the path B is hard. Snails always take route B. You could argue this is because snails are so stupid, but you'd be wrong. Snails never deviate from their path, because they are perfect warriors. Snails are very good at decision making. They keep to what they decide and never deviate. Snails are made of pure virtue: faith, patience and concentration.

Look at a snail very carefully next time you find one. Does it move or is it still? Where is it going? What is it doing? Can you find any indication of confusion, depression or indecision?

Even if snails do have bad moments, you'd be very hard pressed to ever catch a snail crying. Instead, whenever you look, they're always crawling on the edges of razor blades humming the snail classic oldie "I'm slithering in the rain".

The dream oracle says

I am in the bottom of the sea,
eating a multicolored jellyfish
It is viscious and I wonder,
what is this really that I eat

I can see a deep sea snake
moving past my face,
rotating around itself
like a living corkscrew

On the side of the snake,
in the texture of it's skin
there is a simple message: to rotate
and the symbol Yin Jang

Mutant of the Week

Here's the mutant of the week! I drew it myself, to prove that I'm really an artist. You see, in the internet anyone can make any claim they want and get away with it. But not me, I'll tell you the truth and nothing butt. So this is the mutant of the week! Why do you think he's looking troubled? Is it because of too much radiation? Maybe lost his best friend in a car accident? Or an upset stomach? I'll let you decide. Leave a comment if you like.

The thing about mutants is that there's something gone wrong with their genes. So mutants are both the weakest and the strongest creatures at the same time.

The art of doodling

I love to doodle. I make a lot of doodles at work, during boring meetings. It keeps my brain energy going. Casual doodling is also a buffer against information overload, because there is nothing to think about in a meaningless doodle. It can be visual meditation, if you learn how to ride the energy. Often it's marvelous how beautiful or powerful forms appear without any effort. There is nothing shameful about doodles.

In fact, if you push it further, you can make a connection with the divine. In some cases though, to really make an impact, you could take either one and purify it as far as you can.

I'll try to attach a doodle into my posts whenever I can.

Floatating with Zen

I did some zen meditation in a floatation tank. The process is now called "restricted enviromental stimuli" instead of "sensory deprivation", because scientists don't think that the brain is literally being deprived anymore. In fact it's very good for the brain to experience this period of silence.

Anyway, seems like a very useful tool, but expensive. It's marketed as a luxurious wellness treatment, which it is if you want it only that way. It makes you very relaxed from head to toe and free of stress hormones.

I'm not enlightened yet, so I was a little disappointed for not being blown into another dimension. But I had a good meditation with very little disturbance or discomfort.

First Contact - Planet Earth

This is psychenaut El Azul reporting from the planet Earth.

Facts about me

● From a cosmic point of view, I'm an alien and so are you. Cool, right?
● Though I choose to call myself El Azul (The Blue), I'm actually pink.
● According to researchers, I share common ancestry with apes.
